Prof. Massimo Rospocher is a leading cultural and social historian of Early Modern Europe, and the Director of the Italian-German Historical Institute of Trento. He has extensively worked on the use of public spaces in the everyday life of early modern cities and on the history of communication. He has been on the examining board of various PhDs in Italy and Spain and has supervised the activities of several post-doctoral researchers. He sits on the scientific committee of two museums, he is the chief editor of the Journal Annali dell’Istituto Storico Italo-Germanico (Viella), and of the editorial series Studies in Early Modern and Contemporary History (De Gruyter), and Quaderni (Il Mulino). He was Principal Investigator of the European collaborative Research Project (2019-2022) Public Renaissance: Urban Cultures of Public Space between Early Modern Europe and the Present (PURE) funded by the HERA network (funding 1,2 million euros): http://www.hiddencities.eu. He is on the advisory board of the ERC funded project HOLYLAB – A Global Economic Organization in the Early Modern Period: The Custody of the Holy Land through its account books (1600-1800).
